Almost half of 2009 gone, and I’ve done absolutely nothing in the blog. I am a blogging failure.
I’d like to do something, mind you. I’d like to do something with the broader domain, too. But what?
Have to come up with something creative. If I keep up this pace through year’s end I’ll be really depressed.
Still trying to salvage my blog from violent spam death. You’ll notice lots of things wrong with old posts, I hope to get these fixed soon. Keep checking in.
I’ve been battling for the top ranking spot for my own name on Google for a while now, but it seems my site has quite suddenly dropped off the face of the Earth (that is, down to the fifth results page). Admittedly there’s no real content on my index page and I’ve been using inane meta description tags, but that doesn’t explain what seems to be a pretty heavy penalty. If I was depending on my site for any real reason right now I’d be screwed. Still, probably a good learning experience for me to explore the process of resurrecting a site that’s somehow ended up on Google’s naughty list. My main theory to begin with is blog comment spam as the culprit, although I’ve been pretty restrictive as to what’s allowed up here…

Taking a break from pretending to know anything about politics, I think it’s worth noting that Redeeming Rainbow is now online in its full, 22-minute, New York Television Festival cut. See this brilliant comedy pilot the way it was meant to be seen — heavily compressed, in a four inch box.
Yesterday I accepted a job offer to work as a full-time “search specialist” for a company called Global Strategies Int’l. If you have no idea what that means, and you probably shouldn’t, here’s the wikipedia entry on search engine marketing. That’s the stuff I’ll be doing. This is an entirely new field in marketing, and GSI is getting a whole lot of interest right now, so this seems like a great time to jump in. Looks like I found something where I can actually get some use out of my BA in New Media (recently renamed “Interactive Media,” apparently).
I expect I’ll be very busy with this job once it starts in two weeks, and there have been early discussions about turning me into their blogger (one of my goals in life has always been to have a business card that says “search specialist/blogger”). I will probably post occasionally about the job, though there are some company things I’m sure I won’t be allowed to reveal. Don’t know much about that yet.
Anyway, next post will go back to the 2008 presidential election, and the various Republicans pursuing the oval office.
Just a quick post to start things off. At the moment I expect this to be a pretty general sort of blog, but you never know what direction things could take.
